A SPEECH BY THE NENWE WHO IS WHO PUBLICATION COMMITTEE, ON THIS DAY, 1ST JANUARY 2025 AT THE SPECIAL PRESENTATION OF THE FIRST EDITION DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF SENATOR (CHIEF) M.B.CHUKWUBIKE
On the 1st of December 2024 this
maiden edition of the Nenwe WHO IS WHO
was presented to simultaneously at Enugu, Abuja and online via zoom/Whatsapp to Nenwe people and the world (Attached is the
welcome address and presentation of the WHO IS WHO by coordinator speech ). The members of the committee and many people who read the book
suggested a special day to honour
the person who not only
inspired the book but the highest Political Office holder, highest
Nenwe person in any elective or appointed political position, in any democratically elected dispensation
in Nigeria, Senator (Chief) M. B. Chukwubike, a Senator of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria (1960 - 1966) by having this epoch making library
material presented to his family in particular and Nenwe people in general in
his Nenwe Country House. You are all welcome.
Chief(Senator)M.B.Chukwubike need not much introduction more than
written in the book. The project of this Nenwe WHO IS WHO
was inspired by his challenge to one of his sons Charles and other
younger ones by extension after his
publication of the History of Nenwe
town in 1984, when Charles told him that
there were many personalities then not
written about and he said “....they can never be written once and in one
document, You can do that......”(MBC)
Chief M.B Chukwubike loved
education and youths
empowerment and this is testified
by the numerous Awgu people that
got scholarships and guardianship at
all levels during his time. His home
was a hub of research, formal and
informal for many Nenwe students and researchers .
We are really happy that the family has decided to
accept this hosting of the event today. It is also an honour
to all of us in the committee that the
senator’s family appreciates the
work we have done .
We do not want to repeat whatwealready said in the unveiling speech which has been
read. But on the programme, we shall announce a day in the first qquarter of this year
when certificates of honour shall be given to
those personalities in this first edition. We also encourage all those who asked for
copies of the book on the day of the unveiling day at Abuja
Enugu and online to come forward and receive the requested copies
today or from any of the
designated persons in Nenwe, Enugu and
Abuja after today's presentation.
On behalf of the committee we thank you all for coming and for picking a copy of this maiden edition of Nenwe
Who Is Who.
We wish you all a Happy New Year and all the best in life throughout this 2025 and beyond.
Signed:
Charles Okechukwu Chukwubike

RESPONSE TO THE NENWE WHO IS WHO COMMITTEE BY THE CHIEF MB CHUKWUBIKE'S FAMILY ON THE PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK - NENWE WHO IS WHO IN HIS NENWE HOUSE ORIE EGU NENWE THIS 1stDAY OF JANUARY 2025
Protocols
It give us (Chief M.B.Chukwubike’s family and wards) great pleasure in particular to have been able with your support not just to honour our father today in this little way but to kick start a series of Educational and historical/cultural conservation
projects which he - MBC had always been on and which
we promised to continue implementing .
This will be first and foremost; the amplification of his library. It is
on record that before the ugly event of 1987 when the security agents
razed a cross section of Nenwe, Senator MB Chukwubike had the
most furnished personal library(with books, graphics, etc). However, many of the materials in
other sections of the house survived the arson and have continued to serve the students and researchers who asked
to access them. There are many volumes of prized educational and
historical materials/literature which have been scattered in many Nenwe homes,
some withpermissions. So many Nenwe people,‘OldAwgu’ and
Nigerians have written many books but there is
no place where they could be
easily accessed in Nenwe.
Many of you may not remember that the first book ChiefChukwubike wrote (before The history of Nenwe Town)1984 was “The
Educational Advancement in Nenwe” (1983). All these materials and other
important works of Nenwe people are
dispersed here and there and most
painfully not found in any physical or virtual library. We promise, in due
course ,God being on our side to enlarge and ensure the amplification of his library which will be open to Nenwe people /researchers free of
charge in his memory.
At this point I have to honour
his elder and
only brother Nne Chukwubike (alias Ogidi Egwu) who carted
away most of these books when
Nenwe fell to the Federal troops and
buried them in Egu Agbada/Ukete till the Nigerian Civil war ended and we picked the ones
termites didn’t eat up.
Once more thank you for
the honour and respect given to us by attending
this book presentation.
You are all welcome to our
Nenwe House also known as No.
10 Downing Street by many older Nenwe people during the times of our father.
Happy New year to you all and Happy birthday to Patrick who coincidentally has his birthday today though not having a feast!(Aahahah)
Mazi Patrick O Chukwubike
For the Chukwubikes family
